2023 Predictions

Image
So, testing is DONE! This is not a drill people, F1 is back next week!  How have you passed your winter break? I've been watching old races, setting up this blog and instagram account and read Lee McKenzie's Inside F1 book to fill the void in my life. So with the new season approaching, I want to share some of my predictions for F1 in 2023. But what my heart wants and my head knows are two very different things so I'll be breaking my predictions into two sections: head and heart. Championship Winner Head: Max Verstappen or Charles Leclerc Heart: Carlos Sainz Jr (please Ferrari! Just let them race!) Constructors Champions Head: Red Bull Racing Heart: Ferrari (I have so much faith that Fred will do the team good) Mercedes Return to Glory Head: Unsure Heart: No (I want a spicy season) Hamilton's Future Head: This man will keep fighting until he gets his 8th championship Heart: Retires or takes a season out which will give Mick Schumacher a seat at Mercedes Best Rookie Head...

Alpine 2023 Car Launch

Image
Drivers Esteban Ocon Pierre Gasly Team Principal Otmar Szafnauer Well this is a team that I am so excited to see this year! The all French line up holds a lot of promise for the French team. Alpine came 4th in the constructors championship last year with Ocon scoring the most points for the team. With the introduction of race winner and AlphaTauri's highest point scorer last season, Pierre Gasly, this will be a driver pairing to keep an eye on. But on the flip side, the pair have a rocky history, potentially stemming from Gasly 'stealing' Ocon's girlfriend a while ago. Despite them seeming to have moved passed this, hanging out a lot over the winter break, could there still be some tensions lurking? Only time will tell!  Honestly I really hope not though because I love this pairing and they could really shake up the season if they work together. And the final car reveal is... So underwhelming!  I might be tired after a busy day at work but I literally can't spot a...

Mercedes 2023 Car Launch

Image
Drivers George Russell Lewis Hamilton Team Principal Toto Wolff Second to last to reveal their car for the year are Mercedes. And just like their nearest competitor on the grid, they have kept the same line up but taken on a new third driver. In this case, in the shape of Mick Schumacher, which I am super excited about! I have nothing against Hamilton but this has got me excited at the thought of Mick becoming a full time driver with Mercedes in the near future. I believe Mick having access to the correct machinery and with the right guidance and mentorship, he can go on to do amazing things.  And yes, I am aware that he could replace Russell, however, looking at the standings from last season and him beating Hamilton in his first season with the team... Well I guess we'll just have to see what this season brings. Obviously I have to mention Toto as well, he's great, I love him. That's all.  Car talk tim e! I think I'm a witch? This morning, about an hour before the l...

Scuderia Ferrari 2023 Car Launch

Image
Drivers Carlos Sainz Jr Charles Leclerc Team Principal Fred Vasseur Happy Valentines to me!  It's like Ferrari knew I'm a completely unromantic, single lady and wanted to make my Valentines day a bit more bearable so gifted me their car launch and fresh content. And I'm so grateful. I have a good feeling about the team this year under the guidance of new Team Principle, former Alfa Romeo TP, Fred Vasseur. Hopefully he goes into the season with the belief that the team can win the championship unlike Mattia last year. Because after all, that's why all the drivers are there... To win the championship... As for the car! So, picture the scene: It's valentines day. I'm at work in the middle of nowhere (as usual). I have some signal, not enough to load Instagram but enough to get messages. All the girls in the office are being sent huge bouquet's of flowers from their significant others. My single ass, on the other hand, have my friend sending me pictures of the...

Aston Martin 2023 Car Launch

Image
Drivers Lance Stroll Fernando Alonso Team Principle Mike Krack So. You know the phrase 'shit happens'. Well shit happened. I had this intro to this post written a couple weeks in advance. When I was editing the Mclaren post, which I posted earlier today, I ended up deleting this entire post.  Because I'm an idiot.  It was so good as well. So all I'm gonna say is Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll should make an interesting pairing, especially after the crash between the two at the US Grand Prix in Austin last year where Alonso was nearly launched into outer space. If the two can respect each others space while racing, I think the two stand a really good chance for Aston Martin in the constructors championship. I really hope the car is nice to make up for the panicked retyping of this after a day at work... Also am I the only person who giggles at the name 'Mike Krack'? Yeah? Okay... This is the first launch I've been able to watch live, thank you Aston! On a ...

McLaren 2023 Car Launch

Image
Drivers Lando Norris Oscar Piastri Team Principal Andrea Stella Looks like today is a day of teams that have annoyed me launching their 2023 cars... Oh Mclaren... You did me dirty and lost my respect after how you treated Daniel Ricciardo... And to make it clear, this isn't me having a problem with Oscar Piastri, I love when Rookies come into the sport and I'm always excited to see how they do but Mclaren absolutely did not go the correct way about this exchange of drivers... I also feel for Oscar as now he will have a hell of a lot of pressure on him to perform in his Rookie season instead of learning the ropes and being allowed to make mistakes. Not from the team necessarily but from the fans. And I really hope he can deal with it because it will be inevitable and hard going. Good luck kiddo.  Little Lando mention, he's great, love him (not as much as my Dad does though...) ANYWAY! THE CAR! The new livery is nice. That's all I can say, it's nice. It's probably...

AlphaTauri 2023 Car Launch

Image
Drivers Yuki Tsunoda Nyck De Vries Team Principal Franz Tost It's AlphaTauri time!  After De Vries took part in the Italian Grand Prix in 2022, replacing an unwell Alex Albon, I've been so excited to see him do a full season. I think he's gonna shake up the grid and we'll see him bring a lot of points to the Red Bull sister team.  Hopefully AlphaTauri will provided him a stable foundation to build his career from. I will miss seeing him glued to Toto Wolff in the Mercedes garage during races and referring to him as Toto's son but I guess it's time for him to spread his wings. And Yuki! Oh my! I will be so sad to not have Yuki and Pierre on a team together anymore but I don't think that will stop the boys creating content together, or at least I hope not... How long did I have to wait for this car launch?! If I'm not at work in the middle of nowhere, I'm feeling sleepy and wanting to go to bed! Please can someone launch their car at like 6pm GMT? Pl...

Alfa Romeo 2023 Car Launch

Image
Drivers Valterri Bottas Zhou Guanyu Team Principal? Alessandro Alluni Bravi After an impressive debut season in 2022 (both on the track and in fashion), Zhou remains partnered with F1 legend Valterri Bottas under the guidance of new team principal Alessandro Alluni Bravi.  Although it seems that Alluni Bravi is just the face of Alfa but responsibilities are to be split three ways between Alluni Bravi, Beat Zehnder and Jan Monchaux. This has come from newly appointed Chief Executive Officer & former Mclaren employee, Andreas Seidl, and his vision of running Alfa Romeo, differently to the rest of the teams on the grid. But will this lead to a 'too many cooks' situation? Guess we'll find out... And as for the car. Guys... IT'S BEAUTIFUL! I think it's just peaked over the Haas car but both are stunning liveries. Being the nerd that I am, the Alfa Romeo is giving me proper Harley Quinn vibes. Question though! Do you think that all the teams have gone for a 'Dar...

Williams 2023 Car Launch

Image
Drivers Alex Albon Logan Sargeant Team Principal James Vowles Right guys, to tell you the truth... I'm gonna miss Latifi. He spiced up races! But I am intrigued to see what Albon can do with Rookie, former F2 driver, Logan Sargeant, and new team principle, former Mercedes Chief Strategist,  James Vowles . Hopefully the British team can start reaping some success like they had in the 80's & 90's. I mean, the only way is up, right? Once again, I was at work when this car was revealed...  Let's just assume that for all these launches, I'm starving and in the middle of nowhere, sneaking looks on my work computer in my super late lunch break, surrounded by people who don't care about motorsport.  It seems that there was less filler than the Red Bull launch as I found the reveal pretty quickly instead of sifting through articles complaining how long it's taking. And I really wouldn't have cared if it took me ages to find: the car is really nice!  To me, ...

Red Bull Racing 2023 Car Launch

Image
Drivers Max Verstappen Sergio Perez Team Principal Christian Horner Before we start: I spilt a bottle of beer on my laptop typing this... Please read it and make it worth my while! Next up to reveal their car for the year: Red Bull Racing! I think it could be an interesting year for the guys over at Red Bull following the allegations and revelations of the Cost Cap Breach. Could we may see them take a tumble down the order? Or will Verstappen and Perez continue to stun us with their dominance? We may also see tensions between the two drivers following the events at the end of last year when Perez allegedly confessed to purposefully causing a red flag in the final moments of qualifying during Monaco 2022 so he could keep pole position. This would later lead to Verstappen refusing to let Perez take his position in Brazil 2022, despite Verstappen already having sealed the title. This act would eventually end up losing Perez 2nd place in the Championship to Ferrari driver Charles Lec...
